(BRAG) will celebrate the contributions of five distinguished individuals during its 35 th Annual Scholarship Awards Dinner Dance on Friday, October 28, 2005. This fundraising event, which annually attracts more than 500 retail industry executives, politicians, celebrities, and students, will be held at Capitale, 130 Bowery Street in New York City. Those who will be honored this year include Jane Elfers, President and Chief Executive Officer, Lord & Taylor; Vanessa D. Gilmore, U.S. District Judge, Southern District of Texas; Monique Greenwood, Owner, Akwaaba Bed & Breakfast Inns; Tracy Reese, Designer & President, T.R. Designs, Inc . ; and Peter Weedfald, Senior Vice President, Consumer Electronics & North America Corporate Marketing, Samsung Electronics, Inc. In addition to the honorees, BRAG will present scholarships to deserving high school and college students who have achieved academic success and who exhibit financial need. The Black Retail Action Group, Inc. (BRAG) is a national, not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization whose mission is to promote the acceptance and participation of men and women of color at all levels of retail and related industries. It has remained loyal to its pledge of serving as one of the rare organizations that offer guidance tohigh school and college students and young professionals entering retail and related industries. To date, BRAG has awarded over 150 scholarships and has honored more than 275 individuals.
