BRAG Scholarship Program

More than 2 decades ago the BRAG scholarship fund was founded as a means of providing needed financial assistance to
African Americans and other students of color. BRAG and its board of directors are proud to say we have stayed the course. We understand leadership and good citizenship come with education. To that end, BRAG is firmly committed to our continued support of students who are pursuing a career in retail or in a related industry.

The BRAG Scholarship is a one-time-only award based on financial need, scholastic achievement and community service. The award can be used for tuition, books and/or supplies. Monies for scholarships awarded for a particular school year will be disbursed in January of that school year.  An essay of 300-500 words on The Changing Face of Retail (College) or World Peace (High School) must be submitted. A separate one-page essay on why BRAG should consider you for the scholarship and how you plan to give back to your community or industry must also be submitted.

Here is a list of the additional BRAG scholarship criteria:

· Must be a full-time student (12 hours or more)

· Must be a US Citizen, or have Permanent US resident status
· College students are required to have a GPA of 3.0, and high school students an 85%   average

Students who do not complete the application in total will not be considered.

In order to receive your BRAG award the school you are attending must submit a copy of your tuition statement and the classes you are registered for at least three weeks prior to the time of need. Students who receive the BRAG award must maintain the 3.0 GPA or lose the award. Students must send BRAG a copy of their grades at the end of each semester. The award must be used within a two-year period. The monies are allocated to the university, not the student. All monies not used by the student within the designated time frame will revert back to the BRAG Scholarship Fund. All Scholarship Awardees are encouraged to become BRAG Student Members.
